When it comes to supporting equal access to technology, many libraries are struggling to be all things to all people. While some patrons are ready to explore 3-D printing, others still need help setting up an email account.
The goals of this session are to:
• Expose library staff to a wide range of on-the-ground solutions, collaborative partnership strategies, and technology training approaches;
• Help library staff see opportunities for supporting technology needs of their patrons, at any stage of the technology engagement continuum;
• Create a network of library staff who are working on similar technology training;
• Allow library staff to leave with an Action Plan, and 1-2 immediate ideas to implement when they return home.
This interactive session will be led by members of the Training Work Group, a cohort of grantees of the Global Libraries initiative at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Training Work Group members are responsible for implementing library staff training across their countries, and bring particular expertise in meeting technology training challenges in transitioning and developing countries.
