The goal of this session is to unlock librarian’s ability to highlight the wonder world of libraries and be convincing towards politicians for all matter related to libraries (building, services, users, money….).
The role-play should give the opportunity to people to become successively a different character mixing with different people.
The objective is to collect ideas and connect people by providing hints for common advocacy tools and technics, strengthening the capacity to advocate for the library Community (from local to European level), highlighting the cross-sectorial nature of Public library contributing to EU 2020 objectives.
The idea is also to stress the importance of library associations and the involvement of professionals in these structures, as well as to inform the audience on upcoming major evidence based advocacy actions at European level in the second half of 2015.
Kristīne Pabērza is President of the Library Association of Latvia. Since 2007 she serves as an impact assessment specialist and advocate of the public library development project “Father’s Third Son” at the Culture Information Systems Centre where she led multi-perspective, longitudinal, nationwide research study on social and economic impact of public library services on local communities and individuals in Latvia.
