How do you involve young people?
If libraries want to do programs for young people, we need to involve them and focus on what their needs are, instead of just thinking about what the library wants.
Futhermore the role of the librarian needs to be transformed from creator to facilitator. Young people should develop together with the library instead of just participating.
In this interactive session we want to engage you and do an exercise with you:
This ambition is to apply to everyone and we will do this by presenting two general frameworks. This can be adapted to your context and needs.
To help us, we would like to ask you TWO questions:
#1: What kind of barries do you meet in serving young people?
#2: What is your most succesfull experince with young people?

One note on my responses - I don't work in a library currently, but my answers are based upon my past experience.
#1: Young people are not aware of the services that the library provides, regardless of whether those services are offered in the library or through virtual / e-services.
#2: Working one-on-one or in small groups in teaching information literacy skills often seemed more successful than large group training.
