Hello, Stranger: Connecting with Librarians in a Pandemic World

June 3 at 5.30 pm (UTC+2) on Zoom: https://nyu.zoom.us/j/95247974497

Join your hosts from the League of Awesome Librarians for an interactive networking event inspired by the card deck games from We’re Not Really Strangers.

In this short session, we’ll anonymously share in large groups and intimately share in small breakout sessions (using Chatham House Rule) about how we’re really doing as librarians, library workers, and library stakeholders in a pandemic world. Come to vent, connect, and enjoy the serendipitous and wonderful
experience of connecting with strangers!

Prompts will range from easy/perception-based, like “Do I seem like a cat or dog person?” to deeper, connection-based questions, such as, “What’s been your happiest memory this past year?” Together we’ll listen to one another, reflect on library lives, and share how we’ve handled our many experiences over the past year.

Hosts: Ashley Maynor and Evan Barber

Bios: Ashley Maynor (she/her/hers) is the founder and a host of the League of Awesome Librarians. A convener, storyteller, and accessibility advocate in library land, she serves as the director of the Library Lab for New York University developing a curated series of pop-up spaces, events, workshops, trainings, projects, and initiatives aimed at preparing libraries and library staff for future unknowns.

Evan (he/him/his) is an IT person that loves working in a library and planning weird events. He’s happy to give tech support on the fly or geek out about music and movies. He’s also passionate about good web design, accessibility, and giving student employees meaningful job experience.
