Short biography

Marjan Marinkovic is senior librarian and currently works as Assistant Director at the Belgrade City Library (BCL), the largest public library in Serbia. For more than 12 years, he has worked in the same library as cultural activities coordinator and project coordinator. He holds a Master’s degree in Comparative Literature and Literary Theory. He attended the two-year long INELI Training Program for Librarians Innovators (supported by Global Libraries - Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation). Fields of his special interest are the development of innovative library services, the role of the library in community development, and the cultural and educational activity of the library.

Marinkovic is responsible for creating and managing various BCL projects. The most successful are: ”What to read – indeed” (the first Serbian national library portal for book recommendations; the portal has gathered 35 public libraries from all over Serbia,, “Technoteka” (creating the makerspace in the library), “Strengthening Citizens’ Financial Literacy” (project dedicated to financial literacy of Serbian residents); “A Streetcar Called Book” (modification of the public transport tram into a library on wheels), “Information Literacy – Family Package” (courses dedicated to unemployed citizens)…

Other work experience:

- NGO Center for Social and Economic Development – Senior Project Coordinator (2007 – onwards);

- Belgrade Fair – Organizational assistant of the International Belgrade Book Fair (2011 – 2013). 


- EIFL-PLIP Innovation Award 2012 for interactive financial literacy education website Novcici (‘’Coins’’);

- The 2007 Best Poster Award, IFLA Conference, Durban, South Africa (for project “A Streetcar Called Book”);

- BIBLIONET 2012 Award (Serbia);

- PC Press Magazine Award for Belgrade City Library website;

- Scholarship Stuart Brewer by IFLA Metropolitan Library Section.

Dear Marjan,

unfortunately I have to join a Meeting in the evening at 6 p.m.. 

I would suggest you to take a Walk with my colleagues who warnt to make a Trip through Kreuzberg. They meet at 6 p.m. At the entrance oft the campus at the „x“, I told  my colleague Daniela Haberland, Obhut you and she is aware to have you with them. May be I can manage to join the Group later that evening.
