The 4th Floor at Chattanooga Public Library is a unique library space.  As recently as July 2012 it was 14,000 sq ft of storage space, having sat neglected for 30 years.  After emptying the space completely, the library partnered with AIGA and other key local organizations to host a series of events that will ultimately determine the services, functions, design, and specifications for this space.  Through careful measurement and casual observation, together we are working with the community to transform this flexible library space into a public resource that the community is proud to support. This interactive workshop will describe the iterative space planning process that has allowed us to partner with other community groups to gradually improve the space with every event we host.
