- Keynote / The Urban Naturalist: How to Make the City Your Scientific Playground
In this talk, I argue that cities are not sterile wastelands: they are exciting, novel ecosystems with a unique set of flora and fauna. And it is community scientists who are studying the ecology of their own city more and more.
Thanks to the open science revolution, everybody can experience the 19th century romance of being a naturalist and making new discoveries in their own street, their own balconies, even in their own homes.Â
